Lessons
Students have four lessons each with Isabelle Perrin over the course of the workshop. Individual lessons are given in a masterclass setting, encouraging all the participants to learn from listening to each other. Lessons will take place in the beautiful chapel of the Central United Methodist Church in downtown Traverse City.
Piano Accompaniment
Pianist Damien Luce will be available to rehearse any chamber music or concerti students are preparing as well as to accompany their lessons.
Baroque Performance Clinic
This year's clinic, presented by Michael Coonrod of the Interlochen Arts Academy, will focus on Baroque performance practices. Students will explore not only correct ornamentation and phrasing, but will also learn from a presentation of baroque dance styles as applied to instrumental music. Mr. Coonrod will also work with students on their Baroque repertoire, lending a pianist's ear to each harpist's interpretation.
Technique Lecture
Students will hear a lecture by Isabelle Perrin on technique, touching on subjects as diverse as tone production, practice techniques, and competition strategies.
Final Performance
Participants will have the opportunity to perform their pieces at a final concert in the Central United Methodist Chapel.
Activities
Walking distance from the beach and beautiful downtown Traverse City, students will have ample opportunity to relax and enjoy the surroundings between lessons and practicing. Group activities such as a cook-out, concerts, movies, etc, will be offered.
