Over the course of the week, students will benefit from valuable guidance on solo repertoire in individual lessons. In addition, students are encouraged to prepare a concerto and will be given the opportunity to have coachings with an accompanying pianist. Concertos will also be explored away from the harp in a series of lectures centered on analysis and historical context. Students are invited to perform either a solo or a concerto in the final concert.
Lessons
Students will have four hour-long lessons with Isabelle Perrin. The lessons will be in a masterclass setting so that each harpist also learns by listening to others. Please be prepared to take notes and to actively participate! All lessons will take place in the afternoon.
Concerto Accompaniment
Pianist Damien Luce will be available for individual rehearsals as well as coachings with Isabelle Perrin, and he will be available to accompany performances at the final concert.
Concerto Clinic
Lynne Aspnes will conduct a morning clinic on Wednesday and Thursday focused on harp concerto repertoire. The lectures will cover in-depth analysis of varied concertos along with their historical significance and context.
Final Concert
Participants can choose to play either a concerto or a solo piece in the final concert.
Activities
Various musical and social activities will be offered including concerts, outdoor excursions, sightseeing, and group events.
